The Verta Taylor Fund

The Verta Taylor Fund shall support an award for a graduate student engaged in research on the sociology of sexualities, to be named the Verta Taylor Award in the Sociology of Sexualities. The Department of Sociology, through its awards committee, will determine an annual winner of the award as long as funds remain.

G. Reginald Daniel Memorial Fund

The Professor G. Reginald Daniel Memorial Fund has been established to honor his legacy as a teacher, mentor, and pioneering scholar of Critical Mixed Race Studies. He had a profound impact on generations of students as well as scholars and activists within and beyond the university. The funds will support graduate and undergraduate students in the Department of Sociology as well as the ongoing work on Critical Mixed Race Studies.

Flacks Fund for the Study of Democratic Possibilities.

The Flacks Fund supports research and education that explores the conditions – social, psychological and cultural – for democratic citizenship, the enhancement of democratic participation, and effective citizen action for social justice. The Fund honors Professor Emeritus Richard “Dick” Flacks, whose life work is focused on understanding and promoting responsible social change aimed at enhancing democracy and social equality. Annual grants are awarded to support educational events and Sociology graduate student research that supports these values.
